Training 2023

The year 2023 was characterized by various initiatives in training at the USB. On the one hand, the focus was on visibility, i.e. increasing awareness of the USB as an attractive place to train. At the same time, the aim was to create a positive mindset towards the university hospital among the target group through exciting experiences.

Whether it was the 700 scouts who spent their cantonal day at the USB or the 180 children and young people who took part in Future Day in November: The USB training team introduced them all to the positive spirit at the University Hospital and thus created the basis for interest in future training at the USB.

The first internal careers show at the USB took place at the end of September. 1800 secondary school students and their teachers flocked to the foyer of the ZLF. 15 professions presented themselves with many hands-on activities - these were met with great enthusiasm by the young people. The internal careers show was a great success and will be held every two years in future, alternating with the Basel vocational and further education fair.

In mid-October, the IPA Basel opened its doors in the Department of Internal Medicine. Created in cooperation with the University of Basel, the Bern University of Applied Sciences and the Basel-Stadt Health Education Center, it provided four weeks of training in the interaction between different professions. Medical students, prospective FH and HF nurses and physiotherapists, all in their final year of training, worked together to provide care for the patients. The model, which originated in Scandinavia, has been proven to lead to greater patient safety, reduced length of stay, improved quality and greater mutual acceptance between the various professional groups. The pilot model is currently being evaluated and may be implemented as a permanent module in the training structure at the USB.
